Welcome to No Apologies: The Truth About Life, Love
& Sex, a character-based,
abstinence-until-marriage curriculum. Delaying sexual
involvement is a critically
important and achievable standard for young people,
and this video curriculum is
therefore intended to help adolescents:
· 1 Identify clearly the consequences associated
with premarital sexual activity
· 2 Understand the value of healthy behaviors
· 3 Practice the skills necessary to achieve
the goal of premarital sexual abstinence
This curriculum guide is designed to offer educators
- teachers, parents, youth
leaders and others - flexibility in pursuing the video's
objectives through creative
and innovative lesson plans. Begin by viewing the video,
and then use the lesson
plans to reinforce the video's messages.
This curriculum, and all materials relating
to sexuality,
should be approved through the appropriate process
in
your particular school district. This may involve
the
school principal, faculty members, an advisory committee
(such as a Family Life Education or Human Growth
and Development committee) and the school board.
Follow district policy for submission and use of all
materials
containing sexuality information.
Your role as teacher and facilitator
of this curriculum is vital to help students understand
how personal character and an abstinence decision
work together to make healthy choices throughout middle
school, high school and adulthood.
Young people need a realistic understanding of the
relationship between love and sex; a vision of the
benefits of saving sex for marriage; and the skills,
strategies and strength of character to refrain from
premature sexual activity. The No Apologies video
curriculum addresses these specific points.
The curriculum also recognizes that parental involvement
in sex education is a key factor in delaying premarital
sexual activity.1 Parent/Teen discussion sheets are
included with each lesson. Send these home with students
so that parents can partner with you in this life-impacting
educational process.
This video curriculum is an excellent resource for
schools and communities that are obligated to promote
abstinence from premarital sexual activity, with a
focus on those groups that are most likely to bear
children out of wedlock. The No Apologies video and
curriculum are true to the spirit of the eight components
of the definition of abstinence education.
